Rural Development Office

The Rural Development office strives to promote local self-sufficiency, encourages communities to take full advantage of all available resources and provides customized support utilizing a broad scope of resources to assist local leaders and organizations in sustainable economic development.

The Rural Development office provides on-going training and resources for community organizations through these programs:


Asset Inventory

 
The Asset Inventory provides the basics on the most critical data used in regional economic analysis. It also provides a framework for managing the community’s data and determining the research techniques to use. 



Governor's Regional and Rural Development Conference

The 2010 Governor’s Regional and Rural Development Conference will be held October 14-15, 2010 in Flagstaff at the High Country Conference Center. 

The 2010 conference will focus on advancing Arizona's economy and economic recovery.

This year's theme is "Economic Gardening: Cultivating a more Competitive Arizona."

Main Street Program

  • Assisting Arizona communities in revitalizing their Downtown Business Districts:
  • Facilitate meetings and work program retreats
  • Develop and train Main Street boards and committees
  • Technical assistance for program implementation
  • Offer design assistance to business owners

 

Rural Economic Development Initiative (R.E.D.I.) Program

Assisting Arizona communities in strengthening economic development practices and techniques:

  • Help communities to become more attractive for capital investment.
  • Analyze and determine organizational strategies
  • Provide matching grants for studies and economic development implementation tools
